Rumble Strip (Shoulder Corrugations)
We are proud to admit we cut the very first shoulder corrugations in our shop floor in the summer of 1994. One of our main line paving contractors had a need for one mile of pavement shoulder corrugations cut in the new shoulder on US 10 near Midland, MI. Once again Opperman Grooving rose to the opportunity and set up our 3 foot diamond grinder with electric over hydraulic controls/computer and the grinder cut perfect 12" center-16 3/4" wide-5/8" deep shoulder corrugation at 12'/minute in natural aggregate concrete.
When State and Federal officials requested a more productive method, we turned to our good friends at Diamond Surface Inc. who took what we had learned and designed and built Snapper II for us. Snapper II utilizes carbide teeth rather than diamond blades. The unit is powered by encentrics which allows our machine "Rude Awakening" to cut H on A rumbles at 1 1/2 miles per hour. Snapper II also cuts beautiful rumbles in concrete to promote safer highways for the motoring public whether it is on shoulders, centerlines, curves, bike paths, hills, and more.
